What would cause the transmission to blow fluid out of the vent tube. Its at a shop now and they said its going to need a new trans. What do you guys think?

Its a blown gasket on the channel casting. It breaks right near the vent and sprays fluid directly on the vent causing it to pump fluid out. Its usually puddled on top of the trans, Pretty common.

You called it spot on! Our trans guy at the dealership pulled it apart for me and it was exactly that. Thanks for the reply.

The fix is to prick punch the case lightly and use a gasket sealant (like high tach or aviation sealant.) and to use the updated gasket.
