1990 Drivetrain into 1979 Pace Car

Hi Everyone,

Well, one of my good friends (vanfassenc) told me about this site, and from what I can see so far it is pretty awesome! Anyway, I am about to start a project and need some advice from anybody who has done anything similar.

I have a 1990 GT Vert that has seen better days body wise, but the drive train is in great shape. I recently found a great '79 Pace Car that I am going to purchase with the intent of putting the '90 drive train into the '79. My biggest concern is the wiring and sensors. I am pretty much convinced that I will spend the bulk of my time after it is done chasing electrical demons. My other option is to put a pretty stout 306 in it with a good ol' fashioned carb on it. Any advice or opinions are appreciated.

yeah I have too much hair on the back of my head and not nearly enough in front so sometimes it will lead me to say things using the back of my head and not the front. you should be able to adapt your 90's powertrain with relative ease since u have the donor car right there with you
 
exactly if you really wanted to the Fox II interior will swap over, I did it in my 84 I will post pics in the morn
 
2 pieces of advice

1. Don't let Vanfaasen get car advise for you.... you will end up selling your mustangs and buying a Bonneville and a minvan :bowrofl:

2. Take all the harnesses from the 90 and swap the dash and everything into the 79. We did this on my brothers 84 SVO (swapped a 93 drivetrain, and interior using all of the 93 stuff)

I would agree, just swap it all over. Find a nice place where you can put them next to each other, gut the 79 and then start pulling the parts off the 90 and bolting them straight to the 79.
 
You would have been much better off had you not told us that you are friends with VanFassenC aka Christian. He's a douchebag and nobody likes him.
