I'm selling my 1984 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel. This is an excellent car. I would not hesitate to hop in it and drive to California and back.
It's a 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine with an automatic transmission. Engine starts great, even when cold. No smoking, no blow-by. Transmission shifts well, no slipping. Everything runs as it should.
The suspension is in good shape; I just installed a new end link on the sway bar with an OEM bushing. All tight and proper. The tires are in fair shape; they should be replaced shortly, but I've been driving on them everyday without issue.
The body and paint is in good shape. There is a small amount of surface rust near the body cladding: nothing serious. It's merely cosmetic and you'd miss it if I didn't tell you it was there.
The interior is in good shape. The bottom of the passenger seat has some tears, but nothing extraordinary. There's the usual wear that any 30 year old car would have in it. Aftermarket AM/FM Radio and CD Player work great. The sunroof works excellent, it's power and completely silent. No jamming. The power seats work well. The passenger side window does not roll down because it is stuck, but all the other windows roll down great.
The car has a second fuel tank installed in the trunk for the running of waste vegetable oil. What this means is you can pour used fryer oil and vegetable oil into this second tank and - once the car warms up - hit a switch on the dash to switch over to running completely on the vegetable oil. This is a spectacular way to beat these high gas prices by running on something that's completely free! Most restaurants will give you their used fryer oil if you give them barrels they can pour it into. I rarely ever pay for fuel since I've owned this car. The swap was performed by the previous owner and everything works, including the fryer oil temperature gauge. All the hard work is done, fryer heads!
I'm moving shops and I'm out of space so this car must go. My loss is your gain. I've switched to riding my bicycle and moped exclusively since I live next to my workplace now, so I have no need for a car.
I'm asking $2,800, cash only. Trades are welcome. If you're interested in submitting a trade offer, send detailed photos and information about your car or your offer will not be reviewed.
