Ok so I been goin back n forth on what drivetrain to used in my 71 Chevelle. It's a street cruiser, won't ever see the track, but of course LOVE to have the power there even if it's just a street cruiser. I already started on the turbo ls(almost done), and I the car now. But I picked up the GENV lt 8sp trans with 76 miles on it. Yes 76 and it's begging to be used lol. Go figure I can't post pics of ANYTHING but you get the idea. Just want some opinions, oh and either drivetrain can be for sale. Thanks MM

1. Built for boost 6.0 LS, 88mm turbo, th400 trans, guesstimate 800-1000hp= fun as hell, hopefully street friendly, dependable.
2. 2017 6.2 LT1 8sp auto drivetrain with only 76miles on it. Ill just cam it for now, and nxt year add a whipple. 455-650hp when done=COOL as hell, dependable, mpg's lol, street friendly.

Go the hightech route if you can get it tuned and running properly.. Do you know if that 8sp trans can be run without a severe amount of oem parts/modules/bcm-tcm, etc, etc?

I really liked that LS2 Impalla you did. That is my idea of a solid cruiser!

Thanks Denny, Speartech make the harness for it $1500, and can flash the ecm and tcm $500, Motion Race Works offers a fuel system for it $1000, Sonnax makes the adapter for the trans tail $180. A cpl places offer motor mounts and headers. It woyld still have the oem components so tuning should be pretty simple, as well as for the trans. It's pretty much like a ls swap, but I'm still doin some research on it. Camming it is expensive, but several ppl on some 6th Gen fb pages, and some local shops said it is pricey to do and not very simple. Yea the impala was fun, sold it way to soon. But that swap was pricey too, I did it back in 09 when all the ls swap thing just started.

I have a boosted stock engne out of a soccer mom vehicle and it has 10 second power. Not everything has to be cnc ported and expertly cammed.

Not sure what the 8 speeds can handle (not enough real life experience on my part) ... 6 speeds can handle 700+ and hold up good.
If your thinking the 6.2 with a turbo you will not be happy with a 400.... you would need a 4l80e.

My stock ls1 c5 vette hit high 10s with a Paxton sc. I thought we were talking basically stoch w/o forced induction.

Never see the track, street cruiser, looking at 800-1,000hp. lol. Only on Motown.

I'd say go the new route, probably get a lot of attention when done. Any pics? I love Chevelles.

Yeah... if you want racecar power, expect racecar reliability with a modded engine and bad gas mileage with big injectors, a non locking converter, and no overdrive...

or put stock musclecar stuff in there with the latest tech ajd enjoy the hell out of it. it will be worth a lot more if you sold it also because you are selling oem reliability withthat 6.2/8sp combo.
