My brother in law is selling his Nova project, some of you may have met him at Woodward the last few years. More info via link I copied what I could here. Pics also at link.

For sale is a 1970 Chevrolet Nova project car. This vehicle was the project of my step-father who has since passed. As far as I can tell, the car is mostly complete but in a disassembled state.

The car itself is a shell that was restored, painted, and shipped up here to Michigan. There is no glass installed, but there is a bunch of glass in the trunk (along with various body trim, wiring harness, etc.). Inside the shell there are a number of boxes of parts he must have collected along the way.

One thing to note is that it looks like he noted the manufacturer and paint codes for the body paint and clear coat. Always good information to have. Along those same lines, he has quite a bit of paperwork and notes. Some of it is more useful than others but it did help me figure out what he had so I can post it here.

There is a 383 stroker crate engine sitting in a crate setup to run (radiator, gauges, etc.). This engine was built for my step-dad by enginefactory.com (http://www.enginefactory.com/500hp.htm). I have documentation for this thing, fortunately. I have seen and heard it run but not in a few years. Some quick numbers from the engine builder: 500 hp, 470 foot-lbs. of torque.

To deliver that power to the ground, he bought a stiffened up 700r4 transmission. I do not know the details, but from a couple of receipts it looks like he ordered a race ready 700r4. The invoice is from an eBay transaction for something called "700-R4 BLACK MAXX Race Ready". There is another invoice from another eBay transaction called "DURA-BULL 700R4 10 in. 3000 to 3500 HP STALL".

I couldn't find any information on Black Maxx or Dura-Bull very quickly, but these two items are in one of the photographs. I assume the stall was selected with due research because of the notes I found in the papers he had. It looks like he worked this out with someone, factoring in the carburetor, transmission and rear-end.

He bought a Dana rear axle with what he noted to be 4:10 gears. I don't know much about how ready it is to be put into the car or what suspension modification he was intending on making. There are some new suspension parts.

There are various trim parts, seats, and I think even aftermarket carpet. There are two chrome bumpers, presumably front and back, that need to be restored. They are however functional and not currently on the vehicle.

The vehicle has been garage kept under a non-weather proof car cover and to my knowledge has never been washed since being brought up here (there is a lot of dust).

All told, according to my mom, he spent about $34,000 on acquiring the vehicle and the parts. The project is being sold as is, although I will assist you with looking around and try to answer as many questions as possible.

In addition, the new project owner has rights to all of the parts. If you come and see the vehicle, you will note that the garage is a bit messy. The next project of mine after selling the car is to clean this up for my mom. Should you buy the car and I find more parts after you take it, I will contact you to make sure you get them (it's only fair and that's how I roll).

The attached pictures were taken quickly, in the dark, and with a cell phone. They are not the best and I always try to be as open and honest about this stuff (I've been burned on Craigslist before). I encourage you to setup a time with me to see the car and go from there.

The car will need to be towed, preferably on a trailer, and we can certainly work together on coordinating the multiple trips it will take (the engine is in a crate, etc.). I'm totally open and willing to help where I can.

One final note - I am open to trade. A properly built CJ7 or early Wrangler (YJ) will be considered. Sorry - that is the only thing I'm open to.

Thank you for looking!
