1969 nova trans fit

a friend of mine has a 69 novaq 4 door straight six with a three on the tree its a true tennese barn find but the six is pretty damn tired and he wants to make a some what "rat rod" out of it to tote his kid and girlfriend around in part of what he wants to do is keep the three on the tree he has a bone stock 400 sbc that he would like to through in just to get it driveable and have a little rumble to it now the question is would the trans bolt up to a sbc or is he going to go a different route

A 200-4r, 700-r4, Powerglide, TH350/400, Saginaw or muncie 4spd. Almost anything will go in there.

He won't be beating it up at all he will be toteing around his 4 month old son the only reason he wants to do a sbc is because he has one. his great grandma bought the car brand new in 69 drove it till 84 when she died then it was put in the barn in Tennessee until he took it out a year ago he put gas and a battery in it and drove it onto the trailer the car is rough the interior is shot and the paint is so sun faded it's damn near gone
 
Ok thanks I honestly think it would be cooler if he freshened up the six and put an offenhouser valve cover and a similar style air cleaner should be a cool car regardless thanks again guys
