Well, probably not what you'd like to see. A friend of mine had a chance to 'drive' his car on a dragstrip track during an Impala show last week :D

Man. Is it a real Z-11 car? Cool vid.

Yessir. Here is a LINK to his restoration page - this car is rolling art

Back in the day...

Shit we need to see more stuff like this Joe. I am pretty sure I have seen that car in person!

He completed the car in late 2006 I believe and has enjoyed showing it nationally ever since. It's been around this area for sure, Eyes on Design, Meadowbrook Concours, etc. He only did the drag strip thing twice, I'll dig up the other video.

*edit* Here is pass at the Super Car Reunion in York, PA - 2007 I believe :D

Joe - What kind of times was he running and was the drivetrain brought back to original racing condition or Factory condition?

I believe drivetrain is built to original race specs.

He babied it down the track, car is far too valuable to wind it up

rear quarter says ronnie sox the ronnie sox IE mr 4 speed?

Correct :D

From Hank's site:

Pictured here is the original 1963 aluminum front end Impala AF/X- Z-11 Chevy that was OWNED AND RACED BY Jack May of Powhatan, Va. and driven by Larry Wilson [Good Ole Mr. Wilson] and Race prepared by Ronnie Sox of the Sox and Martin racing team.

It was also sponsored by Sox Sinclair Service which is Ronnie Sox's Father. The car was garaged in Burlington, NC. since that's where Larry and Ronnie both lived. Since Ronnie had his own Z 11 Chevy, The Sox and Martin car and raced it under NHRA rules they desided to make this car a match race car and race it for money. Larry Wilson was the primary driver of this car but there we're times when Ronnie Sox would drive this car in a race.

I have talked to all of the above named people and continue to stay in touch with them and all are glad the car has been found and is being restored to it's racing condition with all the lettering as it appeared in it's racing day's
