06 cobalt drive ability issue

A friend of mine has an 06 cobalt with an ecotech motor. The car starts accelerates and idles just as it should but when you come to a stop or a deceleration it drops to about 300 rpms and stutters pretty bad. The car doesn't stall but is damn near stalling. There are no trouble codes stored in the computer. Any ideas?? Bad sensor? It was ran pretty low on oil (down to a quart) burnt or bent valve? She has a kid and doesn't have the money to just throw random parts at it. Any help is appreciated thanks motown!

Are you sure that their are no codes? Check obvious things. Vacuum leaks, clean mass air flow sensor and throttle body. Then check for an intake gasket leak. Let us know what you find.

I scanned it with the matco scanner I have and it said no dtcs. Will a tech 2 pick something else up? I just did a quick glance over the rest of it I will look closer for vacuum leaks. The air filter is a k and n which I did check and was in good order. It may be a couple days before I can see the car again but I'll let you guys know what I find.

So ended up cleaning out the throttle body and found a broken vacuum port. Fixed the vacuum port and car runs great. Thanks for the help motown!
