my wifes 2001 aztek 3400 motor , forcing coolant into the over flow jug , i opened the rad cap and all the coolant went from the jug to the radiator , i was told head gasket and i know these motors are good for it but i honestly dont think its the head gasket , i know shes got a spot by the water pump thats weeping so im thinking that maybe it leaked out and caused air to get in the system when it was ran low on coolant and that forced it to go into the over flow ?

thought ? opinions ? im supose to be using this vehicle to go up north tomorrow morning , looking like i may not be going now
 
Sounds to me like a head gasket. I do those things left and right at the dealership. PM me I have a hydrocrabon tester at my work you can swing up and we can check it out real quick and give you a definate answer. But you should probably plan on doing some head gaskets, and depending on if it ever got rear hot, checking the heads for cracking/warping. How many miles?

Couldn't he find a way for the pressure not to build, keep coolant and water on hand and limp it around?????

Annnnnnnd I prolly do 5 pairs of these heads a week. It always starts out as an intake leak and then just makes its way into a head gasket leak over time.
 
im going to get it fixed next weekend , i can get a headgasket set , water pump , head studs and a t-stat for just over 300 bucks for the parts , take it to my step dads shop and we can get it knocked out in a few hours , it sucks and i was realy hoping it wasnt the headgaskets but after thinking about it and knowing all about the GM motors with there intake problems and headgasket problems im sure thats the issue , it sucks but oh well

on a side note ill be taking my f150 gas hog on a 5hr drive up north in the morning , i just blew my budget for this weekend lol
