Thanks Tom, but I might hold off for a little bit on getting another cat. I would love to get another one, but might be too soon right now. Plus, do you know if this cat gets along with other cats? I have a 3 year old female cat (who wouldn't harm a fly), so they would have to get along.
Have your friend contact a few rescue groups, they might be able to help. You can find a bunch of local ones on petfinder.com

Amy, I'm not trying to minimize your loss, or think that cats are interchangeable (they are not), but a friend of mine in Warren is looking to place a 1 year old orange male tabby. They got the cat and found that the whole house was allegic. They gave the cat to my buddy's mother-in-law who has since had asthma issues. He's supposed to be the friendliest cat. His name is Ronny. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get some contact info for you. By the way, he's fixed and has had all his shots.
