I'm fairly new to MI and have spent the last 10 "winters" in either CA, AZ, or FL. I had my old fastback done when I was restoring it in high school, but is there a benefit of undercoating newer cars? Is this a popular thing to have done up here? Thanks in advance!

Probably a dumb question, but how stable is an engine supported only by the engine mounts (without a trans)? I need to know whether it would be safe to ship the car across country with only the engine installed, no trans... I want to make sure the engine doesn't "kiss" the firewall or radiator...
